Dicta Transcribe · included with Pro and Team

Turn the audio and video files you already have into text

Point Dicta at a recording, a voice memo, a podcast export or a screen capture, and get a clean, searchable transcript back, entirely on your Mac. Same on-device speech model as live dictation, no upload, no queue, no per-minute meter.

Dicta Transcribe is included with Pro and Team, and it ships with the 7-day Pro trial too.

Shown, not told

Long files show real chunked progress, cancelling keeps whatever is already done

You are never locked into a long job. The progress you see is the actual chunk count, cancelling is safe at any point, and every finished transcript lands in your history automatically, ready to search.

1

Drop the file

Point Dicta at any audio or video file already on your Mac.

2

Watch it chunk

Long files transcribe in visible chunks, real progress, not a spinner.

3

Stop whenever

Cancel mid-file and the finished chunks are kept, not discarded.

4

Find it later

The transcript saves to your searchable local history automatically.

What it does

A transcript for any file, without leaving your Mac

Audio and video, both understood

Drop in a voice memo, a podcast export, a screen recording or any common audio or video file, and Dicta transcribes the speech in it using the same on-device model that powers live dictation. The picture track is ignored; the speech is what comes back as text.

Progress you can actually watch

Longer files transcribe in chunks, so you see real progress as it happens instead of staring at a spinner, and you always know how many chunks are left and roughly how much of the file remains.

Cancel any time, keep what is done

Change your mind partway through a long file and cancel: the chunks already transcribed stay saved, nothing you have already waited for is thrown away, and you can pick the transcript up from your history.

Every transcript lands in your history

A finished transcript is saved straight to your local history, searchable alongside everything you have dictated, so a file you transcribed once is never re-processed by accident and is always a search away.

Local, always

Your files never leave your Mac to become text

Dicta Transcribe runs on the same on-device speech model as live dictation. The file you pick, the audio inside it and the transcript that comes out all stay on your machine; nothing is uploaded to transcribe it, and there is no cloud tier that would change that.

What is next

YouTube transcription is on the roadmap, not shipping yet

Transcribing a YouTube link directly is on our roadmap. It is not part of Dicta Transcribe today: what ships now is local file transcription for the audio and video files already on your Mac.
