Dicta vs Krisp: bot-free like Krisp, analysis on-device by default

Last verified: 2026-08-16

The short version

Krisp is the closest competitor to Dicta’s own philosophy, and the only one that fights Dicta on both dictation and meetings. Its noise cancellation is genuinely on-device, our own teardown of the app found real local ASR and noise-cancellation models. But its meeting-notes product, the summaries, action items and AI chat, runs in the cloud; only noise cancellation stays local. Dicta’s plan for meetings takes the same on-device instinct Krisp applies to audio cleanup and extends it to the whole pipeline: transcript, speaker separation and framework analysis, all on the Mac the meeting happened on. It is included in Pro at launch.

Where Dicta is ahead at launch

Krisp’s own product proves the value of on-device processing, it built real local models for noise cancellation, which is exactly Dicta’s instinct. The difference is scope: Krisp keeps that local-first approach to audio cleanup only, while transcription and meeting notes go to the cloud, and its own MCP server is cloud-hosted too. Dicta’s plan for meetings extends the on-device principle across the whole pipeline, transcript, speaker separation, and 18 built-in analysis frameworks across sales (MEDDPICC, BANT, SPICED, Sandler, DISCO), customer success, meeting notes, team rituals, project, hiring and demo, plus a custom-template editor, with a local MCP server instead of a cloud one, and nothing metered because on-device analysis has no per-call cost.

Where Krisp is stronger today

The honest headline: Krisp’s meeting-notes product is real and working today; Dicta’s on-device version is included in Pro at launch. If you need AI meeting notes, action items or a call routed through noise cancellation today, Krisp does that now and Dicta does not yet. Krisp is also best-in-class at real-time noise cancellation and AI accent conversion, something Dicta does not compete on at all, ships on Windows, Android and iOS today (all generally available), and has a broader CRM integration set (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Affinity), Slack, SOC2/HIPAA compliance, and its own call-center product line.

Feature and pricing details for Krisp are drawn from krisp.ai/pricing as published at the time this page was written, cross-checked against our own hands-on teardown of the Krisp desktop app (local ASR model files, virtual-audio-device configuration keys, a documented meeting-type template list) and 2026 third-party pricing coverage where the vendor’s own page was unclear. Both are re-checked when we update this comparison. If something above is out of date, tell us at [email protected] and we’ll fix it.
